Shameless Plug

Hey guys!

About nine months ago, myself and a bunch of friends from the local music scene released a various artist CD entitled, “The Better than Life Project”.

Here’s why you should pick up a copy:

  1. It wholly benefits the under-resourced children of Manila. Nope, not just 10%, not 50%, but the whole schlameal is being given to them via the Reach Youth Ministries. I'm not seeing a cent of the cashola, and I cant take credit for funding it either. Most of the resource for the project came through a Filipino-American community (my home church) in San Francisco called Bridgepoint Community Church.

  2. I wrote ALL the songs. Need I say more?☺ (Did you just feel a rush of blood to your head? hehehe.

  3. The awesome musicians. The album’s got Barbie Almalbis, Jay Durias, Naldy Gonzalez of Side A, Top Suzara, Radha, Pido, Chedi, Noah Krishna and Mike Luis, to name a few. And for you avid drummers out there, the great Benjie Mendez played on it.

  4. It's all ORIGINAL. For those of you tired of “Buttercup” you’ll appreciate this! If you're not tired of “Buttercup”, lets not even be friends. Hahaha, just kidding.

  5. Sshhh... There are some hidden tracks!

  6. Did I mention I wrote all the songs?
I'm sure I can come up with more, but hopefully that’s good enough to get you to narrow your margins by P250 bucks ONLY.

You can get the CD from Odyssey, House of Praise, and SM (I think). Here’s a tip though: if you get your copy from the House of Praise, more money goes to the kids. But if you cant find one, go ahead get it from Odyssey.

Here’s a two-song sampler to put some life into this blog ☺

Ciao for now,
Bebster

Tomorrow night at Fully Booked

Money, money, money.

If you're uncomfortable talking about it, well... so are we (hehehe). But, it may pay to plow through the discomfort to make sure we master it and not the other way around. Join us as we begin the conversation on this touchy topic.

Also, if you're tired of cheap bossa remakes and in the mood for some original Pinoy folk, we have The Rinka Collective with us tomorrow.

Come early, you won't want to miss this.

Tonight at CS: Saving Time?

The phrase "I am saving time" is actually a bit weird. Like, really, you saved time? Well, where is it? Do you happen to have a box full of minutes stashed somewhere for a rainy day?

Time is precious, and so tonight we begin the conversation to explore what God might have to say about how we use up time. Join us!

About Snoozing...

You know how sometimes you make resolutions to pray more? Then you actually are finally able to sit yourself down to pray... only to end up falling asleep. Well, that’s happened to me quite a bit. And honestly I would get a bit frustrated with myself and have all sorts of guilty feelings. I mean, how dare I doze off in the presence of Almighty God, right?

But recently I came across this thought: What father wouldn’t love to have his child fall asleep in his arms? It’s exactly the kind of thing that fathers live for. Could it be possible that God, as our Father, feels the same way about us at times when we do doze off in His presence? I later wrote this lullaby, with the thought that maybe this is what God sings to us when we sleep.

A little disclaimer: I don’t normally put out my songs at such a raw stage, not for public listening at least. But I guess I’m letting this out way before its time because maybe some of us need a new visual on what God feels about us (at least what I think he feels). So what you’ll hear is really just a draft that allows me to file and not forget. But just the same, I hope its lyrics speak to all of us.

Surrender

Sleep, sleep, sleep tonight
Rest your tired eyes
Stop the gears from ticking for a while
Still your weary mind

Let me hold you
Let me sing into the night
Breathe my breath into your life
Through this father’s lullaby

And as you lay your head upon my chest
Feel my heart beat for you
That you’d get in over your head
And bite more than you can chew
This I dream for you

Sleep, sleep, sleep tonight
Lay your burden down
Live to fight another day
But for now surrender

Let me hold you

Let me love you tonight
Know your locked into my sights
Through this fathers lullaby

And if your dreams should ever fade away
And mountains will not budge
When soaring turns to crawling babe
And you can’t clearly see
Crawl back home to me

Dream, dream, dream tonight
Lay your burden down
Live to fight another day
But for now surrender
